The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.

Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobnet.html.

This page has been set up so that people can report on the employment
standards of various countries.

The Department of Applied Linguistics, King Mongkut's University of
Technology Thonburi, currently has an opening for a lecturer in Applied
Linguistics. Responsibilities include teaching on our two MA programmes
in Applied Linguistics and Resource-Based Learning, supervising and
mentoring research, conducting research, some language teaching, and
helping with curriculum and test design.

Applicants must have at least an MA in Applied Linguistics, Linguistics,
TEFL or Education, teaching experience, and preferably a record of
publications and research.

The Department is a leader in its field in Thailand and South-East Asia,
and provides a comfortable and development-oriented working environment.
The university is located in the suburbs of Bangkok with easy access to
the city, but with a pleasant, almost rural environment nearby.

The successful applicant would be expected to start at any time between
now and the end of May. Salary is around 30,000 baht per month, payable
13 months per year, with a housing allowance of 8,000 baht per month.
Working conditions follow the standard Thai government contract for
foreigners. Unfortunately, the university cannot pay for relocation.

CVs should be sent to Stephen Louw <istelouw at cc.kmutt.ac.th>.
