The M.A. program in Linguistics at the University of Texas at El Paso has a
number of Teaching Assistantships available for the Fall 2000 semester.
This program provides broad training in theoretical and applied linguistics
and prepares students for careers in language teaching and teacher-training
as well as for Ph.D. studies in Linguistics. The program is especially
well suited for students with interests in Hispanic linguistics or applied
linguistics.

The majority of the Teaching Assistantships involve teaching English or
Spanish as a second language, but students with native or near-native
ability in other languages will also be considered. These positions
provide a stipend and health benefits. To be considered for a Teaching
Assistantship, one must be admitted as a student in the M.A. program.
Application forms for admission are available on-line at:

http://www.utep.edu/graduate/forms/index.html

A separate application form for a Teaching Assistantship is available from:

gradling at mail.utep.edu

This application should be returned by April 1.

Further information on the M.A. program in Linguistics is available at:
