The University of Pittsburgh seeks applicants for the position of
Lecturer in Linguistics and Director of the Language Laboratory.
This full-time faculty position is outside of the tenure stream.
The initial appointment would be for 1-3 years, depending on the
candidate's qualifications and experience, with multi-year
reappointment possible based on performance review and continuing need
for the position.  The starting date for this position is August 28,
2000.

The duties associated with this position involve teaching two courses
over the academic year as well as facilitating the development and use
of technology resources for language instruction.  The successful
candidate will be expected to design and implement workshops on the
use of multimedia technology in language teaching.She/he would be a
consultant for foreign language faculty members in the area of
materials development, and also would assume management
responsibilities for the computer laboratory.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. or M.A. (and relevant experience) in a
related field such as instructional technology and design, foreign
languages, or second language acquisition / applied linguistics.
Whatever the formal field of study, a concentration in technological
applications to language learning is essential.  We seek an individual
with demonstrated excellence in teaching and excellent interpersonal
skills.  Familiarity with both Macintosh and PC platforms is required.

list of courses taught at the university level, evidence of teaching
effectiveness such as student and/or peer evaluations, and three
letters of recommendation.  We are also interested in viewing WWW
