		     CALL FOR ABSTRACTS (REMINDER)

The `Laboratoire de Linguistique Formelle' URA 1028 CNRS-Universite de
Paris 7 is hosting the Fifth International Conference on Afroasiatic
Languages (CAL5). The aim of the Conference is to promote research in
theoretical linguistics in relation to Afroasiatic languages. The
editorial committee hopes to undertake the publication of a collection
of papers based on the presentations at the colloquium, a sequel to the
volumes entitled 'Studies in Afro-Asiatic Grammar' (Holland Academic
Graphics, 1996) and `Studies in Afro-Asiatic Grammar 2' (John Benjamins,
in press).

Abstracts are invited for thirty minutes talks in all areas of syntax,
morphology and phonology. Abstracts should be no less than one page and
may not exceed two pages (500-1000 words). All abstracts will be
anonymously reviewed. Please send three anonymous copy of the abstract
and one copy with the name of author(s) and institution(s). Include a
card containing the following information: name of author(s), title of
the paper, address and affiliation, phone number, fax and e-mail
address. Since we intend to post the abstracts on the conference
website, we strongly encourage submission by e-mail.

Abstracts must be received by March 1, 2000.

Annual Meeting of the Michigan Linguistic Society

Abstracts are invited in all areas of linguistics for the Annual Meeting
of the Michigan Linguistic Society.  Presentations will be fifteen minutes
in length plus five minutes for discussion.

Abstract submission guidelines:
*   Abstracts should be limited to 500 words excluding references.
*   The title of the abstract should appear at the top of the abstract
    and the author's name, abstract title, affiliation and email address
    should appear on a separate page.
*   Abstracts should be submitted by email to binkert at oakland.edu as a
    Word or WordPerfect file or Postscript attachment.
*   Abstracts may also be submitted in hard copy form by faxing three
    copies to the attention of MLS Abstract Review Committee at
    248-370-3144 or mailing three copies to MLS 2000, Department of
    Linguistics, Oakland University, Rochester MI 48309-4401
*   Deadline for receipt of abstracts is September 15, 2000.


Abstracts will be reviewed anonymously, and notification of acceptance
will be sent by October 15, 2000.  Registration and conference information
will appear on the website of the Linguistics Department at Oakland
