Dear linguists,

I´m working on a thesis about early lexical development which will
contain empirical work. I want to elicit data through
1. the MacArthur Communicative Development Inventory
2. testing 30 Austrian children cross-sectionally

As I am working with German speaking children I am wondering whether
there is a German version of the MacArthur inventory. Does anybody know
about a translation of the inventory and where to get it? Are there any
other adequate inventories on early lexical development (in German)
available? Are there any inventories for cross-sectional studies on
early lexical development available (German or English)? I´m thankful
for your answers!

Yours,
Peter Marschik

I seem to notice that many people in North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and
maybe Wisconsin, say "a couple" rather than "a couple of" when
constructing a sentence like "There are a couple of lines left to
finish." This would be rendered: "There are a couple lines left to
finish."
