We are looking for two linguists to join our team of dialogue designers.
We have vacancies for an Applied Linguist and a Computational Linguist.
We hope to make these appointments as soon as possible.

General attributes should include abilities to:
* Develop user interface dialogue structures.
* Empirically collect and analyse human language data.
* Collect and analyse data from corpora and other sources.
* Write dialogue scripts within specified boundaries.
* Some integration of dialogue scripts into lower level knowledge
systems

and

* +2 years experience in developing commercial voice driven systems
* For both posts the candidate should have at least two years experience
in either CTI systems, voice recognition, or in conducting relevant
empirical research.

Computational Linguist
* BSc in Computational Linguistics, or similar discipline
* Programming experience in either Java, C/C++ or Visual Basic
* RDBMS experience

Applied Linguist
* BSc in Applied Linguistics, Linguistics, or Psychology, with
experience of language processing
* Extensive experience of collecting human data and of artificial
language interfaces
* RDBMS experience

The main duty of the Applied Linguist will be to write dialogue scripts
according to Wavoo design principles.

This will involve the following activities:

1. Carry out pre-design studies on potential user group.
2. Evaluate corpus-based dialogue scripts.
3. Write different versions of sample scripts
4. Test scripts on human users.
5. Using appropriate statistical techniques identify strengths and
weaknesses of human trials.
6.  Through an iterative process work to improve the performance of the
scripts according to the priorities of Wavoo.
7. Develop a working understanding of how the dialogues are processed by
low level components of the Wavoo system.
8. Work closely with other members of the Wavoo team.
9. Produce work of a high standard whilst working to strict deadlines.
