WEFLA 2000
2nd Workshop on Foreign Language Teaching and Educational Communication
(WEFLA) April 2000
University of Holguin, Cuba

The second international WEFLA took place on 18th-20th April 2000 in the
University of Holguin, Holguin, Cuba. Participants came from Brazil, Canada,
Mexico and England and from several universities and other institutions in
Havana and Camaguey. Plenary talks were given by Dr Mary Lou Kaitting
(University of Calgary) 'Marketing ideas for international conferences' and
by Dr Vivian Cook (University of Essex) 'Second Language Learning and
Teaching'.  Papers delivered covered a range of areas of language teaching
including listening (Isabel Dominguez Piferrer; Rosabel González Cruz), the
use of songs (Yvonne Colla Peña; Madelaine Silva Labrada), ESP in medicine
and veterinary science (Salvador Escalante Batista; Nilo Dalahanta Morejón),
the use of psychological tests as teaching materials (Ana Victoria Rodriguez
Pérez del Villar), teaching of discourse (Iliana Medrano Fernández), teacher
training (Vilma Páez Pérez), writing (Tania Batista Ricardo), idioms (Sara
Revé Mistelier) and CALL (Julio César Salazar Ramirez). For more information
