JOB DUTIES: This position exists to perform advanced technology research,
            experimental design, analysis, and development in the area of
            information extraction. The candidate will participate in the team
            development of software products and will provide direct input to
            project plans, methodology, and implementation. Consults with
            internal customers to gather requirements and provide
            recommendations. Leads and participates in early stage product
            design functions. Independently performs analyses to develop and
            implement high-level research designs.
            Develops moderate-to-advanced prototypes and system components.
            Remains current on academic and industry research and research
            advances within his/her area of expertise. Other areas of work
            include collaborative filtering/recommender systems, text
            processing, classification and markup, and information retrieval.

EXPERIENCE: Masters degree in Computational Linguistics or related. 5 years
            experience desired. Critical skills include experience with parser
            theory and implementation, general pattern recognition,
            co-reference resolution, and discourse processing.
            Experience with information extraction systems that have been
            deployed or tested as part of Message Understanding Conference
            (MUC) is a plus. Experience in creating large-scale applications
            in Perl and C++. Ability to work through complex problems and
            reach a workable solution. Ability to work independently.
            Excellent communication skills. The qualified candidate should be
            able to perform advanced technology research, experimental design,
            analysis, and prototyping.
