JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

The Kyushu Institute of Technology Faculty of Computer Science and
Systems Engineering invites applications for a full-time position in
English Education which will be open on April 1, 2001.

Rank: Associate Professor

Salary and Benefits: The successful candidate will be provided the same
                     salary and benefits as his or her Japanese counterparts,
                     based on the Ministry of Education scale;
                     one-time relocation expenses will be partially
                     reimbursed by the Institute.

Term: 3 years, beginning April 1, 2001, and renewable.

Responsibilities: teaching four 90-minute English courses and one
                  Humanity course, related to his or her specialty field,
                  for engineering students per week throughout an academic
                  year; conducting his or her own research;
                  performing administrative duties; working collaborately with
                  university faculty.

Qualifications: Applicants should be native speakers of English and
                should have a Master's degree or higher in Applied Linguistics,
                TESOL/TESL/TEFL, Pedagogy, Literary Theory/Comparative
                Literature, or a closely related field.
                  *Ability to carry on daily conversations with Japanese
                   colleagues and teach Humanity courses in the Japanese
                   language are highly desirable.
