The University of Texas at Arlington invites applicants for a Director of
the English Language Institute (ELI) beginning Fall 2000.

Responsibilities: hires, trains, and evaluates institute personnel;
evaluates program effectiveness and plans/implements new programs as
appropriate; assumes budgetary and fiscal responsibility for the institute;
represents the ELI both on- and off-campus.

Requirements: an earned graduate degree in linguistics, applied
linguistics, TESOL or a related discipline; documented success as an
instructor in a university-level intensive ESL classroom; experience
working with international students at a North American university; record
of effective administrative skills; proficiency in a second language.

Send letter of application, vitae, and the names/addresses of three

Arlington, TX 76019-0559.  Deadline for the receipt of materials is March
24, 2000.
