Project Title: Focussed Sentence Beginnings in Translations between German
               and English
Fields: Theoretical Linguistics; Applied Linguistics; Information Structure


The Institute for English and American Studies at the Humboldt
University in Berlin invites applications for two research positions
(BAT-O IIa/halbe) in a two-year project (sponsored by DFG)
'Fokussierte Satzanfänge in Übersetzungen zwischen Deutsch und
Englisch', beginning as soon as possible (preferably May/June
2000). Candidates should have a native or native-like command of
German and English, a background in theoretical and/or applied
linguistics (centering on questions of information structure) and an
interest in problems of translation.

Das Institut für Anglistik und Amerikanistik der Humboldt-Universität
Berlin sucht zwei wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiter (BAT-O IIa/halbe) für
ein DFG-finanziertes Forschungsprojekt 'Fokussierte Satzanfänge in
Übersetzungen zwischen Deutsch und Englisch' (Beginn möglichst
Mai/Juni, Laufzeit zwei Jahre). Bewerber sollten über eine annähernd
muttersprachliche Kompetenz in Deutsch und Englisch verfügen,
Kenntnisse in theoretischer und/oder angewandter Sprachwissenschaft
(insbes. zu Fragen der Informationsstruktur) besitzen und an Problemen
