Dear Linguists,

We are pleased to announce that a workshop on "Languages of the
Mediterranean Area: Typology and Convergence" will be held in Tirrenia,
Pisa, from June 1st to June 3rd. The workshop is sponsored by the European
Science Foundation and organized by the Department of Linguistics of the
University of Pisa.

Well-known typologists have been invited and have accepted to give talks
on areal typology, its methods and results - with particular reference to
the Mediterranean case. Members of the Italian research project on the
typology of Mediterranean languages (Med-Typ) will report on their
research activities.
