LECTURER IN APPLIED LINGUISTICS

Department of Language and Linguistics

The University of Essex, UK

Applications are invited for a lectureship tenable from 1 September 2000,
or as soon as possible thereafter.  The Department is seeking an
additional member of staff at the applied, rather than the theoretical,
end of the discipline. Applications are welcome in any area of Applied
Linguistics, broadly defined.  This may include areas such as second
language learning, methodology of language teaching, language therapy,
language and the media, literacy and reading development. The Department
is particularly seeking to appoint a candidate whose research interests
complement and/or extend those of existing members of staff and are likely
to be attractive to prospective masters and research students.  An

The Department is seeking to appoint a candidate with excellent research
potential and an enthusiastic approach to teaching.  Candidates should
have completed a PhD or have relevant, equivalent experience.

The appointment will be on the Lecturer A scale (GBP 17,238 - GBP 22,579
per annum) or Lecturer B scale (GBP 23,521 - GBP 30,065 per annum) as
appropriate.
