	In this vein, I am reminded of what Ted Lightner always used to
say, namely, that for many alternations, not everybody is aware of them,
even on an implicit level.  Rather, these alternations are real only for
"the more intelligent among us".  (I always assumed he meant lingusts,
but sometimes the discussions on the list--even occasionally my
own--make me wonder.)
