 ==========================================================================
The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.

Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobnet.html.

This page has been set up so that people can report on the employment
standards of various countries.

Lexicon Branding, Inc. has full and part-time summer openings for
several linguistics graduate students to work with staff linguists
Lizanne Kaiser and Will Leben on creating and evaluating brand names for
the U.S. and the global marketplace. There are possibilities of
continuing the relationship with Lexicon on a full or part-time basis in
the academic year and beyond.

Lexicon is interested in hearing from students with a variety of
backgrounds in linguistics. Our goal is to apply knowledge from any of
the facets of linguistics (phonology, morphology, discourse analysis,
sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, and the remaining subfields of the
discipline) to the creative enterprise. We wish to hear from linguists
with foreign language experience and without.

Lexicon is based in Sausalito, California with a branch office on Sand
Hill Road in Menlo Park, California. It is best known for creating the
names Pentium and PowerBook. Lexicon provides a stimulating,
multi-faceted working environment for individuals with a high degree of
curiosity and creativity. More information about Lexicon Branding can
be found at www.lexicon-branding.com.

Please send a curriculum vitae outlining your linguistic interests, your
native language, other languages you are acquainted with and your level
of proficiency in those languages, a brief writing sample on a
linguistic topic, and the names and contact information of three
references. Please do not send letters of reference. Prior business
work-experience is preferred, but not required.
