ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF INDONESIAN, Position Number 82497,

Dept. of Hawaiian & Indo-Pacific Languages & Literatures, University
of Hawai'i at Manoa, full-time, tenure-track, general funds, beginning
Fall 2000 or as soon as possible thereafter, pending position
clearance and funding.  APPLICATIONS FOR VISITING STATUS WILL ALSO BE
CONSIDERED.

Duties: Coordinate the University's Indonesian language program;
        teach elementary through advanced levels of Indonesian and related
        courses;
        provide service in areas of expertise to the University and larger
        community.

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in relevant field, high-level fluency in
        Indonesian and English;
        ability to develop materials and teach four levels of Indonesian;
        demonstrated commitment to academic research.

Desirable Qualifications: Successful experience teaching Indonesian,
                          experience in administering a language program;
                          knowledge of other languages relevant to research
                          on Indonesian;
                          experience in teacher training and curriculum
                          development.

Minimum annual salary: $34,644.
