ONTOLOGIST

Position Summary:  Assist with the development and maintenance of
Requisite's ontology. This position is primarily responsible for the
development of the language that drives the search engine.

Position Responsibilities:  Our ontologists help to define, maintain, and
implement the ontological methodology that is used for our search engine
classification system. In addition, the ontologist particpates in developing
training materials that teach the methodology. As catergories and attributes
are added to the classification system, the ontologist will review the items
to ensure that the methodology has been followed consistently. The
successful candidate will have excellent analytical and communication
skills; be able to conduct research; be a good problem solver; and be able
to work well as part of an international team of experts. Knowledge of
industry standards and classification systems a plus.

Skills and Qualifications:
Years Experience Required: We require a minimum of 1 year work experience,
or graduate level education in Ontology, or Computational Linguistics, or
Knowledge Representation/Knowledge Management.
Degree Required: Masters degree in Linguistics, Library Information Systems,
Lexicography or related field.
Familiarity with international, domestic, and industry specific
classification structures
Editorial and publishing experience preferred
Experience with the use of computers, and the design of computer-based
classification systems
Indexing, classification and library skills
Data analysis skills
Excellent problem-solving skills
Excellent research skills
