A big thank you to all the people who answered my question about
PALM and the article below that I sent to the linguistlist on Fri,
Oct. 27.

The article was:
Hays, P.R. "Discourse markers and L2 acquisition". PALM (7) 1992

One correspondent searched the www.alltheweb.com and found
several links and the authors email: hays at lit.sugiyama-u.ac.jp  So
Paul R. Hays seems to be a professor at the Sugiyama Jogakuen
University (Japan) in the English Literature Department.
