SPEECHWORKS INTERNATIONAL

Position:  Korean Speech Recognition Engineer
Department:  Engineering
Location:  Boston, MA  USA


You will be working with application developers to deploy leading edge
telephony applications in the telephone network, in major corporate call
centers, and on PCs for the home and office. Based on knowledge of what
is important for these deployments, you will also be improving
SpeechWorks' core technology, adding features and functionality to the
technology, and developing new technologies for next generation
products. Full-time, permanent employment, sponsorship for work
authorization is possible


Responsibilities:

§	Definition of phoneme sets for the Korean recognizer
§	Definition of phonological rules for Korean
§	Specification of requirements for speech data collection in
        Korean
§	Participation in the User Interface specification of
        applications being developed for   the Korean market
§	Acoustic modeling
§	Language modeling
§	Natural language processing
§	Working as part of a team of speech technology experts
§	Working with our Korean partners to ensure the success of our
        joint projects

Requirements:
§	2+ years research experience in some aspect of speech
        processing
§	Desire and ability to work as part of a team
§	Strong C programming skills
§	Fluency in UNIX or NT (ideally both)
§	Excellent oral and written communications skills in Korean
§	Good oral and written communications skills in English
§	BSEE or BSCS or equivalent experience, Master/PhD desirable
§	Be able to work with a minimum amount of direct supervision
§	Instill confidence in your abilities
§	Identify functionality versus schedule tradeoffs under
        pressure
§	Deal calmly with demanding customers in unforgiving
        environments
§	Work well with other technical experts in user interfaces and
        application development

Position:  Software Engineer (Speech Technology)

Maintain and enhance software tools and procedures for improving
recognition accuracy. As a software engineer at SpeechWorks
International, you will be designing and writing software to contribute
to our state-of-the-art speech recognition technology.

Responsibilities:

· Maintain and enhance C/Perl programs used for speech technology
  development

· Write new tools for monitoring and improving speech recognition
  performance

· Produce brief documentation for knowledgeable internal users of
  tools

Requirements:

· Strong C fundamentals and experience with C development

. Knowledge of C++

· Additional experience in Perl highly desirable
