The Department of English at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum invites
applications for the Chair in English Linguistics.

Candidates will be expected to have a research and teaching interest in
two of the following areas:

I.	Theories, Models, Methods (e.g. Cognitive linguistics, generative
grammar, semiotics, structuralism)
II.	Descriptive areas of the English language (e.g. Phonology/Phonetics,
Lexicology, Morphology, Syntax, Textual linguistics)
III.	Applied and interdisciplinary areas (e.g. translation studies,
lexicography)
IV.	Regional, social and functional aspects of the English language
(e.g. Sociolinguistics, Varieties of English, Stylistics)


The Ruhr-Universität aims to increase the number of female members of
staff in research and teaching and encourages properly qualified female
academics to apply.
