Introduction:

During the past decade, paradigms and benefits from neuro fuzzy
systems (NF) have been growing tremendously. Today, not only does NF solve
scientific problems, but its applications are also appearing in our
daily lives.

In order to discuss the state of the art in NF and the future of these
exciting topics; we are honored to invite you to Neuro-Fuzzy 2002. We
believe it will be an excellent opportunity to share our knowledge on NF
and contribute to its development in the next century.

This major international conference will be held in a very enjoyable
location: Havana, the Capital of Cuba, where we hope you will experience the
famous Cuban hospitality.

SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM

NF'2002 will include invited plenary talks, contributed
sessions, invited sessions, workshops and tutorials.
Updated details are available at
http://www.icsc.ab.ca/NF2002.htm

CALL FOR INVITED SESSIONS

The organization of invited sessions is encouraged. Prospective
organizers are requested to send a session proposal (consisting
of 4-5 invited papers, the recommended session-chair and
co-chair, as well as a short statement describing the title and
the purpose of the session) to the respective symposium chair
or the congress organizer. Invited sessions should preferably
start with a tutorial paper. The registration fee of the session
organizer will be waived, if at least 4 authors of invited
papers register to the conference.

POSTER PRESENTATIONS

Poster presentations are encouraged for people who wish to
receive peer feedback, and practical examples of applied research
are particularly welcome. Poster sessions will allow the
presentation and discussion of respective papers, which will
also be included in the conference proceedings.

CALL FOR TUTORIALS

Pre-conference tutorials on specific relevant topics are planned. Proposals
for a tutorial must include the title, topics covered, proposed speakers,
targeted audience and estimated length (preferably 2 or 4 hours). The
proposal must be submitted to the general chair, the scientific program
chair and the congress organizer by May 31, 2001. Tutorial papers of max 15
pages can be included in the conference proceedings.

CALL FOR WORKSHOPS

Interested scientists are encouraged to organize a workshop on their
particular field of research. Workshops consist of several presentations or
open discussions on a specific subject. The proposal must include the title,
the topics covered, the proposed speakers, the targeted audience and the
estimated length. It should be submitted to the general chair, the
scientific program chair and the congress organizer by May 31, 2001. Joint
or edited workshop papers of max 35 pages can be included in the conference
proceedings.

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS

Authors are requested to send an extended abstract, or the full paper of
minimum
4 and maximum 7 pages for review, by the International Program Committee.
All submissions must be written in English, starting with a succinct
statement of the problem, the results achieved, their significance and a
comparison with previous work.

Submissions must be received by May 31, 2001. Regular papers,
as well as poster presentations, tutorial papers and invited sessions
are encouraged.

The submission should also include:
- Title of congress (NF'2002),
- Type of paper (workshop, tutorial, invited, regular, poster)
- Authors names, affiliations, addresses
- Name of author to contact for correspondence
- E-mail address and fax # of contact author and co-authors
- Topics which best describe the paper (5 - 10 keywords)
- Short CV of authors (recommended)

Please submit your paper proposal electronically
to the following address: operating at icsc.ab.ca

Data formats: Word, Postscript, PDF.

PROCEEDINGS AND PUBLICATIONS

All accepted and invited papers will be included in the congress
proceedings,
published in print and on CD-ROM by ICSC Academic Press, Canada/Switzerland.

A selected number of papers will be expanded and revised for possible
inclusion in special issues of some prestigious journals.

                GENERATIVE LINGUISTICS IN POLAND 3

                   (Morpho)phonological meeting

DATES: 7-8 April, 2001
LOCATION: Warszawa (Warsaw)

Sponsored by the Institute of English Studies, University of Warsaw

INVITED SPEAKERS:

Jerzy RUBACH University of Warsaw / University of Iowa
Grazyna ROWICKA (tbc) HIL / Leiden University

                      1st Call for Papers
                      -------------------

The primary aim of GLiP meetings is to bring together (i) Polish
generative linguists, (ii) generative linguists working in Poland, as
well as (iii) generative linguists working on Polish.

We invite abstracts on any aspect of generative phonology and
morphophonology in any generative approach (Government Phonology,
Lexical Phonology, Optimality Theory). Talks will be organized around
major phonological topics, depending on the content of the
submissions.

The format of the conference is 20 min for presentation + 10 min
question time. Languages of the conference are English and Polish.

GLiP-3 is the first meeting in this conference series devoted to
phonology and morphophonology, the previous meetings being primarily
syntactic in nature. GLiP-3 marks the beginning of what we intend to
become a rule: (morpho)syntactic meetings in the autumn and
(morpho)phonological meetings in the spring.

The GLiP-1 meeting, which took place in November 1999 in Warsaw,
resulted in a volume of proceedings -- see
<http://www.ipipan.waw.pl/mmgroup/GLiP-1/glip1proc.html>. We are also
planning to publish proceedings of GLiP-2 (which will be held on 9-10
December 2000) and GLiP-3.

   - Meeting: 7-8 April 2001

ABSTRACTS:
- -------

Should be *anonymous* (i.e., they should contain no personal data or
explicit self-references) and consist of up to 700 words, together
with examples and references.

Because abstract forwarding to referees will be done by e-mail
exclusively, the following are the possible formats of attachments, in
*descending* order of preference:

   (Plain Text) > Postscript > PDF > (La)TeX > Word for Windows '97

In cases when there is no need to use special phonetic symbols or
phonological representations/rules, we strongly encourage PLAIN TEXT
submissions.

We regret to say that other formats will not be accepted.

Should the electronic version of the abstract need special phonetic
fonts apart from the SIL IPA fonts (http://www.sil.org/), please
attach them as well. (We strongly discourage this practice though,
and reserve the right to ask for a resubmission in a different
format.)

Those who submit abstracts in (*self-contained*!) (La)TeX should best
use the tipa.sty package. See our web pages for pointers to the
relevant web sites (coming soon).

Only one submission per person and one joint submission will be
considered. Abstracts should be written in English or Polish.

Please note: do NOT send abstracts on diskettes. We will accept
*e-mail* submissions *exclusively*.

IMPORTANT: In the plain text part of your email, please supply the
following information:

   - name, title,
   - title of the paper,
   - affiliation,
   - email address,
   - snail mail address.

ADDRESSES:
- -------

PLEASE NOTE: ONLY *E-MAIL* SUBMISSIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED

Send your abstracts to:

     GLiP-2 Organizing Committee <glip at venus.ci.uw.edu.pl>

Please be so kind as to use zip, gzip, bzip2 or some other
compression utility to COMPRESS the attachment.

PRELIMINARY REGISTRATION (IMPORTANT!):
- ----------------------

If you are (tentatively) interested in taking part in this conference,
please, send your email address to GLiP-2 Organizing Committee
<glip at venus.ci.uw.edu.pl>. Most future announcements, changes, etc.,
will be mailed only to registered prospective participants (and not to
