Japanese tenure-track position effective Fall 2001.  Ph.D. in Japanese
Linguistics.  Native or near native fluency in both Japanese and
English
required.  Primary emphasis is on linguistics.  Secondary fields may be
in pedagogy or culture.  Expertise in computer-assisted instruction
highly desirable.  The candidate selected will teach upper division
Practical Linguistics, graduate seminars in Linguistics and Pedagogical
Linguistics, as well as Japanese language courses at all levels.  The
regular teaching assignment is four 3-unit courses per semester on all
levels.
Other duties include research, advising, curriculum development, and
service on committees.  Application including letter, curriculum vitae,
placement dossier with academic transcripts, evidence of excellence in
teaching (student evaluations), and 3 letters of reference must be in
