UNIVERSITY OF THE WEST INDIES, MONA, JAMAICA

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for one
position
of Lecturer / Assistant Lecturer in Linguistics, and two positions of
Lecturer / Assistant Lecturer in English Language.

LECTURER / ASSISTANT LECTURER IN LINGUISTICS
The candidate is required to hold a PhD in a relevant subject, have a
record of research and publications, and the ability to teach at
postgraduate level in at least two of the following areas:

	Language variation
	Creole Linguistics
	Phonology
	Syntax
	Language Acquisition

The candidate selected should also be able to teach at the
undergraduate
level in at least one of the above areas, or from one of the following:

	Discourse Analysis
	Semantics
	Computational Linguistics

LECTURER / ASSISTANT LECTURER IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE
Candidates are required to hold a PhD in a relevant subject, have a
solid
record of research and publications, and the ability to function at the
highest level in at least two of the following specialisations:

	Teaching of university level rhetoric and composition
	Curriculum development
	Computer assisted writing
	Testing of English language competence
	Writing across the curriculum
	Philosophy of language
	Oral language communication
