NOUVEAU SITE INTERNET DE PHONÉTIQUE FRANÇAISE

L'Université Laval de Québec (au Canada) a maintenant un site internet de
phonétique française. Il a été réalisé par le Laboratoire de phonétique et
phonologie du Département de langues, linguistique et traduction de la
Faculté des lettres.

Ce site internet est consacré avant tout à la description phonétique des
sons du français. On y apprend à entendre, à symboliser, à décrire et à
définir phonétiquement toutes les voyelles et les consonnes françaises. Le
site comporte une vaste base de données de documents sonores et visuels
originaux (croquis buccaux, radiogrammes, photographies des lèvres,
spectrogrammes, etc.), illustrant la spécificité des articulations
françaises et permettant leur identification précise.

On y trouve également un lexique comprenant la définition d'environ 500
termes phonétiques parmi les plus courants.

Les sons, les syntagmes et les phrases sont identifiés à partir de leur
discrimination auditive, puis représentés à l'aide des symboles de
l'alphabet phonétique international (A.P.I.). La description et la
définition des articulations françaises sont faites en considérant leurs
propriétés auditives, articulatoires et acoustiques.

Une large place est faite à la transcription phonétique, après écoute
d'enregistrements. Les exercices portent avant tout sur le français, y
compris, naturellement, la variété québécoise, mais également sur des mots
tirés de dix langues très différentes (arabe, chinois, swahili, japonais,
russe, vietnamien, portugais, coréen, anglais, espagnol). Ainsi, on pourra
compter jusqu'à dix dans chacune de ces langues, en plus de prononcer une
cinquantaine de mots très usuels. En effet, pour chaque chiffre et chaque
mot, on pourra non seulement écouter la forme sonore mais s'exercer aussi à
la notation phonétique de sons moins connus, un corrigé en A.P.I. étant fourni.

Le site a nécessité la production de près de 5 000 fichiers (wav, gif,
jpeg, html, txt) dont plus de 1 400 fichiers sonores--, répartis dans 30
répertoires.

The 8th Central European Summer School in Generative Linguistics
(CESSGL)

Nis/ Serbia 2001

Announcing the 8th free summerschool: as every year: we are organising a
summerschool in Generative Grammar in Central/Eastern Europe, which has
both excellent researchers as teachers and is entirely free (no
enrollement fees). This summer, the accomodation (hostel) is even free
for everybody.

Additionally, there are grants available to cover the travel costs of
Eastern European students.

The deadline for registration is the 15th May.

The school will be held in Nis (Yugoslavia), during two weeks (23 July
to 3 August), and is separated into two parallel teaching tracks:

* one introduction track for people with little background in

(generative) linguistics

* one medium/advanced track for people who already know the basics and

want to get into research topics.

The school offers two weeks of intensive intellectual work in syntax,
semantics and phonology (this summer has a strong morpho-phonological
component), with the following teacher lineup:
