The Department seeks one tenure-track Assistant Professor in ENGLISH
LANGUAGE STUDIES with ability to teach in one or more areas such as
the structure of English, English linguistics, history of the
language, stylistics, sociolinguistics, etc.  The successful candidate
will also be able to teach in either rhetoric/composition or some area
of English or American literature.  Beginning or advanced Assistant
Professors will be considered.  Qualifications: Ph.D. (by 9/02),
college teaching experience, evidence of scholarly activity and
potential in the field, strong commitment to both teaching and
research.  Letter, vita, and abstract of dissertation by Nov. 1 to Tim
Machan, Chair.  Candidates will be interviewed at the MLA convention.
