Subject: Standard Measures of Term Complexity

Has anyone done research on standard measures for determining term
complexity? We'd like to compare terminology from technical domains
(LSP) with those of different technical domains and LGP.

There seems to be work on readability and complexity, most of which
include word complexity, but we've not found anything on term
complexity. From our perspective, there are probably at least two
components that should be accounted for: lexical (length in chars,
morphemes, number of words and/or syllables) and semantic (frequency,
familiarity, and such like).

We'd appreciate any references you can find. Thanks!

Hi,

I'm looking for articles/books on taboo words in 19th century
Dutch/German/English dictionaries. Other literature on taboo words in
dictionaries is appreciated too.

Best wishes,
Anne Dykstra
