Call for Papers
American Contributions
for the International Congress of Slavists
Ljubljana, Slovenia 15-21 August 2003

The American Committee of Slavists (ACS)
once again issues a call for papers for the XIII International Congress
of Slavists in Ljubljana, Slovenia, 1521 August 2003, to determine the
composition of the American delegation (50).

Eligibility.

To be considered, an applicant must, without exception, have
a regular (not occasional)
academic position (including emeritus status) in an American college or
university;

a Ph.D. in hand by April 15, 2001, the deadline date for the
submission of the abstract.

Application.
Qualified applicants must submit an application form and accompanying
materials by March 1, 2001, to

Digital Government of the 21st Century.

dg.o 2001, sponsored by the National Science Foundation, is the first
national conference to bring together top computer science researchers,
government agencies, e-commerce, the software industry, and members of
the public with the aim of making online government systems available
to citizens.

Sessions will address vital technical, social, and economic issues in
digital government for the new millennium:

- Government and social policy
- Privacy and security
- Delivery and tracking of public services
- Commercial and economic incentives for Digital Government
- Useful and user-friendly interfaces, also for the disabled
- Multimedia presentations and human-computer interaction
- Delivery of geospatial, textual, audiovisual, statistical, and
   other information
- Delivery of public surveys and data gathering
- Data integration and statistics
- Cooperation among federal, state, and local government agencies

The conference begins Monday morning, May 21st, and runs through early
afternoon Wednesday, May 23rd.  Day 1 (Monday May 21) will focus on
research projects in the NSF Digital Government Program.  Days 2 and
3 will include a keynote address, panel discussions on key issues,
research presentations and system demonstrations of new online
technologies, poster sessions, and Birds-of-a-Feather roundtables.
