 ==========================================================================
The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.

Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobnet.html.

This page has been set up so that people can report on the employment
standards of various countries.

Exciting opportunities for Research Engineers & Principal Research
Engineer working on leading-edge speech solutions for commercial
deployment on a global scale. Many challenging projects leading to
the holy grail of speech recognition.

ROLE:

Research Engineering - Solidify code of engines (ASR/TTS/NLP).
Evaluate and extend current APIs for hand-off to SLT. Write small
tools to support HF data collection and ASR tuning. Work with SLT to
create web-based storage and presentation of HF video clips. Maintain
digital video editor for HF analysis.

Special Projects - Pilot projects for core engines applications.
Launch and investigate new patent projects that impact company in cost
savings and value. Deep quantitative background in Mathematics,
Physics or Statistical Language Modelling.

Work with SLT on web-based interface to present HF video snippets.
Opportunities to be involved in aspects of core engine development.
Other posts will involve small tools for data collection for HF or ASR
tuning.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

Research Engineers
- Excellent programming background in relevant language (C/C++, Perl,
Prolog, etc.).
- Interest in Speech or Language Processing. Experience in this area
preferred.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Must demonstrate ability to code algorithms specified by scientists.

- Learn to make new contributions to existing algorithm designs.
- Program algorithms for efficiency.
- Experience with Real Time Programming and linear programming
techniques.
- B.S. in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering required.

Computational Linguists considered if evidenced strong technical
programming ability in (C/C++, Prolog, Perl or related language).

Senior Research Engineer
- Above plus definitive experience on a commercially successful core
engine, E.g. L&H Real Speak or ASR.
- Some formal training in speech or language processing.
- Must hold a Masters or 3+ years solid industry experience.
- Degree must be in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.

Principal Research Engineer
- Above plus Masters and 5+ years industry experience or B.Sc. and 7+
years industry experience.
- Must have worked on a core engine or speech product that is well
known in the industry and has been deployed.
- Some research experience required.

Beneficial to have implemented algorithms in a core technology. Work
on a recognised standard core engine in industry very valuable.

For Senior/Principal Scientist roles, above must have multiple
publications in prestigious peer reviewed journals.

COMPANY:

Dynamic organisation with a well focussed and talented team of
developers and scientists working within a fun and casual environment.
Technologies will be deployed to commercial clients to deliver both
internal efficiency improvements as well as enhancing information
delivery channels to their large and diverse client base.

LOCATION:

London (central) with some opportunities for European/worldwide
travel.

SALARY:

Depending on experience - highly competitive to secure the most
