SENIOR RESEARCH SCIENTIST - Natural Language Processing

The Research and Statistics Division at Educational Testing Service in
Princeton, New Jersey has a great opportunity for someone who wants a
challenging and rewarding position.

We are seeking a senior level Research Scientist with the following
qualifications: a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics
or highly related field. The position will be with the Natural Language
Processing Group in the Center for Assessment Design and Scoring.

The Center conducts research on the integration of psychometrics,
cognitive science and technology with the goal of enhancing the
scientific and societal value of assessments.  The work for this
position involves the conceptualization and research of algorithms,
processes, or systems using natural language methods to assist in the
creation and analysis of test content (e.g., the automatic creation of
test questions and the automatic analysis of test questions to
characterize their difficulty).  The work also involves the ability to
apply scientific, technical and software engineering skills in
designing and conducting natural language processing research studies
and in developing and contributing to the development of new products
or services for education.

Evidence of independent substantive research experience is required.
The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the application
of natural language processing in the development of educational
assessment products in a multidisciplinary environment.  The
supervision of a small number of staff may be required.
