Subject: Seeking Jim McCawley's Former Students

The late Professor James D. McCawley bequeathed his former students and
today's linguists a monumental and diverse scholarly legacy. In order to
memorialize him and his enduring works, we seek to undertake an edition of
essays authored by Jim's former students. We intend that the collection
represent the full range of McCawley's work.

As a first step, we seek current addresses (email and affiliation) of
McCawley's former students. The time frame would stem back to
1965, when McCawley first arrived at The University of Chicago.

So, if you studied with McCawley (or know the current coordinates on
other linguists who did) please contact Rebecca Wheeler with that
information (rwheeler at cnu.edu) and help us get the ball rolling on this
project. Please include a note indicating (i) your scholarly focus while
you studied with Jim, and (ii) your current area(s) of research and
scholarship.

Thank you. We're looking forward to hearing from you.
