Call for Papers: Language Planning and Romanization

The Linguistic Association of Korea Journal (International Issue)

The Linguistic Association of Korea Journal is concerned with all
branches of linguistics and aims at publishing high-quality papers in
the field of pure or applied linguistics, including studies of Korean
and any other language(s). Contributions are welcome from linguists in
all countries. The language of publication is English.

With the goal of being a platform for discussion in the field, The
Linguistic Association of Korea Journal welcomes not only papers but
also book reviews, or letters to the editors in areas such as pure or
applied linguistics including syntax, semantics, phonology, phonetics,
pragmatics, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, language planning,
language teaching, and language acquisition, variation, contact and
change, including HPSG and RRG, etc. The broadening of the journal¢¥s
scope is reflected by the composition of the board of consulting
editors.

Call for Papers: The Linguistic Association of Korea Journal

The editors of the Association of Linguistics Journal will produce
Volume 9, No. 1 of the Journal as of June 30, 2001. The current issue
will be specialized for 'Romanization and Language Planning' with the
new Romanization Standard of Korean in consideration.  However, we
welcome submissions of papers on all topics in the field of
linguistics and closely-related disciplines including language
education for this volume. The language of publication is English.

- Paper Submission:
Please email a file of your paper to Gyonggu Shin at
gshin at chonnam.ac.kr. The paper should be twenty pages maximum, in a 12
point font, with minimum 1'' margins around in Microsoft Word file and
rtf file attachment. We also accept papers in the Hangul Word
Processor. If you want a sample style sheet, please specify if it is
in MS Word file or Hangul file.

o Deadline for submission: April 15th, 2001
o Acceptance Notification: May 15th, 2001
o Date of publication: June 30, 2001

- Instructions to Authors:
Authors should send the paper in one MS Word file within 25
double-spaced pages. It should be accompanied by a cover letter, which
includes the author's name, affiliation, mailing address, email, and
phone number.

 1. Deadline
The deadline for the submission is April 15th for the International
issue which will be published on June 30. The deadlines for the
submission are June 30 for September issue and September 30 for
December issue. We accept papers both in Korean and English for
domestic issues.

 2. Other guidelines for papers
 2.1. Title page
 The title page on a separate sheet should include the title of the
paper, together with the name(s) of the author(s) and the name(s) and
address(es) of their institution(s). The abstract of the paper should
be included as well.

 2.2. Abstract
 An abstract of 100-200 words follows the title. It includes
family_name, first_name. 2001. The Title of the Paper. The Linguistic
Association of Korea Journal 9(1). The author's name and the paper
title should be bold-faced. The author's affiliation should be put at
the end of the abstract in bold face.

2.4. Headings
    Headings are done in three levels. All headings are
bold-faced. There should be one blank line before and after each
heading. Headings are not indented nor centered. Subheadings should be
numbered as: 1. 1.1. 1.1.1.

 2.6. Main text
    The main text should be indented three spaces at the beginning of
each paragraph.  Examples are also indented three spaces. They are
numbered as (1) (1) a. (1) b. in sequence throughout the paper. The
examples are referred as (1a), (2a) in the main text.

 2.3. References
    The References section of the LAK Journal follows the APA
(American Psychological Association) style. It contains all the
references cited in the text. In the text the reference is indicated
with the author's name followed by the year of publication in
parentheses. For more than two authors of one reference, quote all
names in the first instance, and then use the first author et
al. afterwards. An example of references is given below:

Carroll, J. (1963). Research on teaching foreign languages. In
N. L. Gage (Ed.). Handbook of Research on
Teaching. 1060-1100. Chicago: Rand McNally Co.
Kuno, Susumu. (1975). Conditions for verb phrase deletion. Foundations
of Language, 13(2), 161-175.

- Call for Papers -

We invite contributions to our first issue to be published in the
Summer of 2001. Authors should send the MS Word-edited file of their
manuscripts to:
