Opportunity to join an exciting young company with a creative approach
to human language translation.  WordStream isn't trying to be another
machine translation company but rather has redefined the problem and
is solving it with a unique technology based on an Interlingua.

US location.

Job Description:
Experienced computational linguist to lead development and design of
commercial interlingua MT system.  Will manage a team of linguists to
determine and define a conceptual framework for the development of a
lexical database and grammar system. Contributor will need to work
closely with software development team to ensure coordination of
linguistic and technical requirements.  Technical experience or
strength a plus.

The contributor will have commercial experience and an understanding and
interest in the commercial applications of linguistic science.  Also
should have successfully managed to deadlines and business pressures.
Contributor will:
- Lead team of linguists: planning of short and long term goals for
grammar development, coordinate work with programmers
- Provide expertise and design of grammar for an interlingua aided
machine translation system
- Provide expertise of methods for testing the grammar rules to ensure
adequate coverage and quality
- Provide expertise for the design of lexical tools, testing methods,
automatic acquisition of lexicon, design of interlingua

Requirements:
· Advance degree in computational linguistics or related area
· Experience in the management of projects and people
· Excellent communications skills and strong management skills
· Ability to work under pressure
· Knowledge of a second language

A plus:
· Knowledge of any romance languages
· Programming skills (Perl, Java)
· Familiarity w/ linguistic resources (corpora, computational grammars,
parses)
· Experience in grammar and lexicon development
