Abstracts are invited for 30 minute talks on issues specifically
related to the Sociolinguistics of South Asian languages. Papers in the
areas of languages in diaspora / transplanted languages will be specially
welcome.

Abstracts may be submitted by email or by regular mail (or by both means
as a safety measure) to Mahendra or Itesh. Email submission is preferred.

Email submissions are to be addressed to: sala01 at uni-konstanz.de

Include the paper title, name(s) of the author(s), address, phone/fax
number, email address, and whether the author(s) are students in the
body of your email message.  Include or preferably attach your paper
as either a plain ASCII text, RTF, PDF, HTML, or postscript file.

Abstracts should be one page in 10pt or larger type and include a title.
Omit name and affiliation, and obvious self reference. A second page may be
used for data and references. Also include a card or cover sheet with the
paper title, name(s) of the author(s), affiliation, address, phone/fax
number, e-mail address, and whether the author(s) are students.

CALL FOR PAPERS

The International Society of Portuguese as a Second Language - SIPLE is
receiving proposals of papers and/or posters to be presented at its 4th
Conference to be held on PUC-Rio's campus from 15 to 18 November 2001.

Proposals should be sent in the form below to the address or fax number
there indicated until 15 June 2001 (mailing date) or in disk, in Word
for Windows (3.1-7.0), Font Times New Roman 10, space single, with a
clear indication of the time of presentation: paper or poster*. The
confirmation of acceptance will be sent until 30 June 2001. So that the
Annals of the Conference can distributed during the event, original and
final texts must be sent along with the Conference Registration Form and
a proof of payment until 30 July 2001. Only the papers and posters of
regularly registered proponents will be included in the event's final
Program.
