Linguistics - EXTENDED DEADLINE:

The Department of Writing and Linguistics at Georgia Southern
University <http://www2.gasou.edu/writling> seeks applications for a
tenure-track assistant professor to teach both undergraduate and
graduate courses in linguistics as well as first-year composition.
Ph.D. in Linguistics: Phonology and Syntax required by starting date
of the position, Aug. 1, 2002.  Dissertation in field and evidence of
excellent teaching are required. A minimum of two years of college
teaching experience is preferred.  Preference may be given to
candidates with experience working with diverse student populations.
Salary dependent upon qualifications.

We seek candidates who have broad interests that complement a
department with programs in creative writing, first-year composition,
technical and professional writing, teacher education, and ESL.  The
successful candidate will also have expertise in one or more of these
areas: language acquisition, applied linguistics, and discourse
analysis.

Initial screening of applicants may occur at the Modern Language
Association Conference in New Orleans, LA, on Dec.  27-30, 2001.
