SECOND/FOREIGN LANGUAGE METHODOLOGY.
Assistant/Associate Professor, tenure-track.

Duties include teaching graduate and undergraduate methods courses for
foreign language certification and TESOL/ bilingual education
programs, supervising student teachers, and offering student teaching
seminars.  Courses include: Methods and materials for FLES, foreign
language for secondary schools and TESOL; TESOL principles and
practices; assessment for English language learners.

Required: Ph.D./Ed.D. in hand (or finished by August, 2002) in applied
linguistics, second/foreign language education, or TESOL; solid
knowledge base in second and foreign language methodology and second
language acquisition.  Preferred: Public school and university service
(including supervision of student teachers) and competence in a second
language.

3 letters of recommendation to: Professor Lorrie Verplaetse,
Department of Foreign Languages, Southern Connecticut State
University, 501 Crescent St., New Haven, CT 06515-1355.  Applications
