We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.

I am looking for information about M.A.K Halliday's theories of
anti-language, but despite looking in libraries, bookstores and the
internet, i can't seem to find any helpful information on Halliday. I
really need a theorist to back up the data on my project. My project
argues that RAP is an anti-language (I have research on this as well
as taboo words, race words etc, and political correctness itself) but
i have no theory to back this up. If you could help me find a theory I
would be very grateful.

Thankyou.

Hi,

Can anyone point me to where I can find an online or electronic English
dictionary that has the pronunciation in Scottish Standard English
(preferably Glaswegian)?

Thanks in advance,
Gina
