POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND, COLLEGE PARK. The
Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences (ESB-CAA accredited) invites
applicants for a tenure track position, which begins August, 2002.
Qualifications include an earned Ph.D. in audiology, hearing science, or
related area.  Expertise in electrophysiologic measures and
amplification is preferred, but other areas will be considered.
Applicants should demonstrate a publication record and have favorable
teaching evaluations commensurate with experience.  Post-doctoral
training and CCC-A are preferred.  The successful candidate must provide
evidence of research productivity, and demonstrate the potential to
establish an independent research program capable of attracting external
support.  Responsibilities include conducting research, teaching
undergraduate and graduate courses, mentoring graduate students, and
participating in departmental and university activities.  Salary is
negotiable, depending upon qualifications and experience. The department
offers B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees; approval for a Doctoral Program in
Clinical Audiology (Au.D. and Ph.D. tracks) is forthcoming (web page:
www.bsos.umd.edu/hesp).  The department is an active participant in the
interdisciplinary training program in Comparative and Evolutionary
Biology of Hearing and the research program in Neuroscience and
Cognitive Science on campus. The College Park campus is located in the
Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area in close proximity to numerous
world-renowned medical institutions and research facilities, including
the National Institutes of Health, Veterans Administration Medical
Center, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Johns Hopkins University, and
the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
