Following the highly successful conferences in Lancaster (1994 and 1996),
Oxford (1998) and Graz (2000), the fifth international TALC conference will
bring together practitioners and theorists with a common interest in the
use of corpus tools for such purposes as:
- first and second language teaching and learning
- language awareness raising
- teaching languages for specific purposes
- student-centered linguistic investigation
- interpreting and translation studies
- cultural and historical studies
- teaching literature

The conference will be held in the mediaeval hill-top village of Bertinoro
(roughly half way between Bologna and Rimini), beginning at 7 p.m. on July
27 and ending at 9 a.m on July 31. Pre-conference tutorials and workshops
will be held on July 27.

Invited speakers (confirmed): Bernhard Kettemann, John Sinclair, Henry
Widdowson.

plenary presentations, posters, or software demonstrations. We also welcome
proposals for longer pre-conference tutorials and workshops.
Abstracts (500 words) should reach Guy Aston (talc5 at sslmit.unibo.it)
