MagicPhone (based in Brussels, Belgium) is the Europan branch of
Tellme Networks (Mountain View, CA, US), which manages the world's
largest voice application network. MagicPhone's Voice Application
Development (VAD) Group designs & develops speech enabled phone
applications based on the W3C standard VoiceXML 2.0.

It has built several VoiceXML applications in French & English and now
plans to localize these applications to the Dutch-speaking market. To
support this localization effort, MagicPhone currently has a job for a
computational linguist (Dutch) on a temporary basis (1 month full
time, or equivalent). The position is available *immediately*.
Candidates can apply for either an internship or a standard temporary
position.

Responsibilities:
- Create & maintain Dutch phonetic dictionaries, used in speech
  recognition applications
- Create & maintain formal grammars (Nuance GSL format) in Dutch,
  used in speech recognition applications
- Develop Voice User Interface prompts in Dutch, in collaboration
  with Voice User Interface designer
- Conduct linguistic analyses of specific application domains
- Linguistic data management

Requirements:
- Native speaker of Dutch, with excellent knowledge of English
 (written + spoken). Facility with French or German is an advantage
- M.A. in Computational Linguistics, with specialization in
  phonetics (or equivalent)
- Fluent command of IPA and other phonetic transcription conventions
- Knowledge of formal grammars / regular expressions
- Proven computer literacy - basic knowledge of programming

Profile:
- Excellent organizational skills
- Detail-orientated, perfectionist
- Able to work independently and in team
- Contacts with universities and other institutes of language
  learning an advantage
- Willingness to travel occasionally for training purposes
