Assistant Professor (Linguistics), Ref. 02/037(767)/2

Applicants must have a PhD degree in applied or general linguistics,
with expertise in any of the following areas: language teaching and
testing, language contact, sociolinguistics or computational
linguistics.  The appointee will develop research projects in applied
areas of linguistics, and teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses
in linguistics.  Appointment will initially be made on fixed-term
contract basis for up to two years from mid-August 2002, renewable
subject to mutual agreement.

Salary will be highly competitive. Starting salary will be
commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Benefits include leave with full pay, medical/dental care and
hospitalization benefits; housing benefit for eligible appointee
(subject to the rules for the prevention of double housing benefits);
plus a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to retirement
scheme (totalling up to 15% of basic salary).
