The Technology section of the August 15, 2002 issue of the New
York Times features an interesting personal take on automatic speech
recognition (ASR) by columnist David Pogue, entitled "Speech
Recognition Follies". The URL:

It contains some illuminating examples of words and expressions
that were 'misheard' by the computer. Although they weren't what the
speaker had in mind, I thought the computer made some awfully good
guesses!
