Description:

The Department of Linguistics at Yale University expects to make an
appointment at the level of Lecturer for the academic year
2003-2004. This appointment is to replace faculty temporarily on
leave, and no renewal beyond one academic year is to be anticipated.

Candidates should be prepared to teach courses in (a) syntactic
theory, and (b) computational linguistics and natural language
processing, as well as providing supervision for undergraduate and
graduate students in these areas. In addition to one part of a two
course sequence of syntax courses and a survey course on "Language and
Computation", the appointee will be expected to be able to teach other
introductory and advanced courses in these areas as appropriate.
Evidence of teaching experience will be an advantage.

Candidates should be assured of completing the requirements for the
Ph.D. by the summer of 2003 at the latest. Applicants should send a
current CV, two representative pieces of research and the names of
