 ==========================================================================

We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.

Subject: Corpora of spoken Spanish

Dear linguists!

Presently I am working with, among others, two older corpora of spoken
Spanish: 1) ''Encuestas del habla urbana de Sevilla'' (Nivel culto,
medio, popular), edited 1983-1992 by Pineda, Ropero, Ollero Toribio &
Pineda PÃorez; 2) ''El habla de la ciudad de Madrid'', edited in 1981
by Esgueva & Cantarero. Does anyone know if there exist electronic
versions of these corpora?

Sincerely,
Stefan Schneider (Graz, Austria)

Is it the case universally that the continuant phase of an affricate
is always strident?
