Senior Research Associate
National Literacy Panel

Hours per week: 35 hours per week (full time)

Salary: $40,000 to $55,000 FTE per annum depending upon qualifications

Basic Function: Assist with the coordination of and support the work
of a 12-member panel of experts convened to prepare a synthesis of the
research on the development of literacy in language minority students.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

*Work with panel subcommittees to identify and secure research documents
*Survey, review and code research articles, books, and dissertations
*Assist in writing research reports, articles, and other project-related products
*Work with database developer to prepare searchable database of research references
*Help organize six panel meetings
*Prepare quarterly progress reports
*Develop project website (with web consultant)
*Work with prime contractor staff to coordinate activities
*Perform other project tasks as assigned by the supervisor(s).

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Ph.D. in field related to literacy and/or research design
and methodology (ABD will be considered).

Experience: Must have expertise in educational research design and
methodology, preferably in both quantitative and qualitative design
and methodology. Experience in literacy research is highly desired,
especially second language literacy research. Expertise in using
technology, especially in working with databases, required. Must be
flexible, organized, and have excellent oral and written communication
skills in English.
