Subject: Language Conference List (Calendar)

The language conference list at http://www.royfc.com/confer.html now is
being updated daily (including some weekends). While the list has
contained conferences for linguists, translators, interpreters and
teachers of languages worldwide through 2006, it had not been updated for
over 12 months. That situation has been corrected. Presently there are
over 300 conferences on the list. More are being added daily.

In addition to the chronological list of conferences, the site may be
searched for conferences. Please see the instructions provided on the
conference home page, URL as above.

                         Thank you,
                         --Roy Cochrun

>>From September 2002 the Department of English Language and
Linguistics at the University of Sheffield intends to offer a new
Research-Track MA in Historical Language Studies. This is
intended primarily (but not solely) for people who are at least
considering the possibility of PhD research in historical linguistics,
the history of linguistics, the history of English, or an area of
convergence between these subjects. As well as topic-based
teaching, the course will provide a substantial research-training
component. The MA will be taught by a team of staff from across
the department, and the course co-ordinator is Dr Andrew Linn.

Please bring this new course to the attention of anyone who might
be interested. For more information contact Andrew Linn at
A.R.Linn at shef.ac.uk or on +44 (0)114 222 0216.

General information is also available at
http://www.shef.ac.uk/english/language.
