We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.

Dear Linguists,

I am Oroitz Jauregi, a PhD student who is writing a dissertation on
Basque Syllable Structure. My perspective is phonological but I want
to make a phonetic corpus description. Can anyone point me to know how
much time of recording would be a reasonable sample?

Thanks, Oroitz

I am seeking information on how widespread, typologically and
geographically, is the occurrence of a single lexeme for 'face' and
'eye'. E. Andersen 1978 (in vol. 3 of _Universals of Human Language_)
reports it for Sango, Tarascan, and 30 or so Mayan languages. It has
also been reported for Ijo and for Berbice Dutch Creole.

Where else is it found?

Thanks for your help. I'll post a summary if interest warrants.
