Coloquio Anual da Lusofonia SLP Porto
18-19 October 2002
Fundacao Eng. Antonio de Almeida, Oporto, Portugal

Please note that we have postponed this meeting for a week

Second Call for Participants

A two-day international Colloquium organised by SLP, to debate
questions related to the dissemination, expansion and revival of the
Portuguese language in the World, will be held at Oporto on 18-19
October 2002.

This Colloquium will exploit and canvass those questions as a
contemporary debate on language. The aim is not only the historical
and theoretical problems of the Portuguese language in the world, but
to analyse its practical modalities in conjunction with other
cultural, historical and linguistic Lusophone communities, as a means
of promoting and drawing near different peoples and cultures.

The Colloquium will have the participation of representatives of
Portuguese-speaking countries, in all its varieties, as well as
Portuguese-speaking people from any other country, in order to rethink
the debate on Lusophonia.

Areas/Sub themes:
1. Language, Multimedia & Mass media
2. Curricular Development
3. Citizenship and Political Participation
4. Translation and Culture (Intercultural and Transcultural),
	Intercultural studies
5. Cultural Diversity

We aim to receive as many proposals as possible covering geographically and
thematically the widest possible range. We aim at a globalising and
comprehensive picture of the theme. Apart from individual proposals, we
might consider, if its number so justifies, the inclusion of a round table
discussion.

All proposals should be addressed to the Executive Secretary,
specifying the sub theme, and including an abstract not exceeding 300
words, in electronic format (MSWord preferred, any version). All
proposals will be considered, and a selection of presented papers may
be included in a future issue of Revista da Lengua, da
Sociedade de Lengua Portuguesa.

If you are interested in receiving further information on this
Conference or if you want to make a 20-minute presentation, please
