The First Inter-Varietal Applied Corpus Studies (IVACS) group
International Conference
Theme: "Language in Use and Language in the Classroom"

Hosted jointly by the University of Limerick and Mary Immaculate College,
Limerick, Ireland,
14-15th June 2002.

Keynote Speaker: Susan Conrad

Plenary Speakers: Ronald Carter, Gwyneth Fox, Michael McCarthy

Papers that address language in use, inside and outside the classroom,
are particularly welcome. Suggested areas:
*	the application of corpus linguistics to EFL/ESL teaching materials
*	the language of teaching and the language of learning
*	language awareness raising using naturally-occurring language samples
*	teaching languages for specific purposes
*	real language and the language we teach
*	language varieties and the classroom
*	descriptive discourse studies
*	teaching literature, cultural, and historical studies reports of
	research studies using corpus-based techniques
*	using corpora in translation studies

Deadline for Abstracts
Abstracts of not more than 250 words (rich text format attachment) to
be submitted by 15th March 2002 to either:
