>>From September 2002 the School of English & Linguistics in the
University of Manchester will be offering two MAs in English
Language.

The MA in English Language and Linguistics is primarily intended for
applicants with some background in language study who are looking for
a course that will prepare them to undertake independent doctoral
research in their chosen field.

The /ru:ts/ of English is intended for applicants with an interest in the
history and varieties of English but with little or no experience of
formal language study at undergraduate level.
