The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.

Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobnet.html.

This page has been set up so that people can report on the employment
standards of various countries.

investigating the syntax-semantics interface. The candidate would
join a team led by Arnim von Stechow and Wolfgang Sternefeld and
including Orin Percus and Janina Rado. The scientific goal of the
project is to investigate uses of variables in natural language.
We're looking for a candidate that brings her/his own research agenda
to the project, and can relate this to the questions set out in the
project proposal. The project proposal and further information about
the project are available on the Web at:

http://www2.sfs.nphil.uni-tuebingen.de/home/variables/www

In addition to pursuing an active research agenda, the candidate is
expected to take on administrative duties within this project.
Willingness to teach one course per semester would be a plus. Teaching
can be in English. Starting date for the appointment should be
between September 1st 2002 and January 1st 2003. The Ph.D. must be
completed at the time of appointment. In any case, the appointment
will be until the end of 2004.

Remuneration depends on age and family status according to the BAT IIa

would be about 40.000 Euro/year. Furthermore, limited funds for
conference travel and office supplies are available.

Inquiries about the position should be made to Uli Sauerland
<uli.sauerland at uni-tuebingen.de>, who is currently holding the
position, or to Orin Percus <orin.percus at unimi.it>.
